Order Pickup, Delivery, Shipping

How do I get my order?

We offer four ways to get your order - free contactless pickup in Saint John West, free contactless pickup in Quispamsis, $5 Local delivery, and Canada-wide shipping.

How does contactless pickup work?

At checkout, you can select which location you'd like to collect your books from.

  1. Our west Saint John location at 1016 Mollins Dr (orders are usually ready in 24 hours)
  2. Our Quispamsis location at 16 Lachlan Court (orders are usually ready in 2-3 business days)

How does local delivery work?

We offer local delivery in the Saint John area (within 20km of the shop location, in west Saint John). Delivery is a flat rate of $5 per order, and you will receive an email to arrange delivery time.

If your location is outside of our delivery radius, feel free to send us a message - we travel often and do our best to accommodate deliveries when we can! 

Do you ship?

Yes! We offer Canada-wide shipping. At this time, international shipping is not available. Check out our shipping page for more information.

How to Shop

Can I shop in person?

We don’t currently have a physical location for you to browse, but we attend events throughout the year and bring lots of Fablefern goodies with us. You can follow our upcoming events here.

Product Questions

What condition are your books in?

We do our best to find books in excellent condition for you. You can expect books to be in gently used condition (minor creases or wear). You may even get your hands on some brand new books.

Bookish products (bookmarks, greeting cards, stationery) are new.

What is Blind Date with a Book?

Have you ever found yourself struggling to pick your next read? Problem solved!Blind Date with a Book lets you choose based on a few keywords and small bits of info, so you’re in for a surprise. All books are wrapped and have short clues on the front (including genre, age rating, and some fun hints).

Do you have a refund policy?

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.

What kinds of books do you accept for store credit?

  • Books in excellent condition (no rips, stains, smells, writing, or other visible damage)
  • Paperback and Hardcover books (please note: we do not accept mass market paperbacks)
  • All age ranges and genres (no textbooks)

How do I get my store credit?

Once books are assessed for store credit, we will contact you with your credit amount to confirm if you'd like to proceed with exchanging them for credit.

Credit is issued in the form of Fablefern Rewards Points, redeemable for dollars off your future Fablefern purchases.

The Fablefern Educators Fund

What is the Fablefern Educators Fund?

Fablefern’s Educators Fund is a program created to help our hardworking teachers stock their classrooms with books. Community members can drop off their books for Fablefern store credit, which will be added to the Educators Fund account. Fablefern will match every dollar of store credit. Vouchers will then be issued to educators who register for the program, allowing them to purchase books for their classrooms from Fablefern Bookshop.

How do I give books to the Educators Fund?

If you’d like to give your store credit to Fablefern’s Educators Fund, please complete the form on this page.

How do I get the books to you?

We’ll email you to coordinate dropping off the books. Books can be dropped off at our Saint John West or Quispamsis location.

What if I can’t drop off my books?

Send us a message! Depending on where you are, we can arrange to pick up your books.

Do the books I give to the program have to be for school-aged kids?

No! We accept all books to contribute credit to this program (the only things we don’t accept are textbooks, and books that are heavily damaged).

What happens after I drop off my books?

All you need to do is drop off your books, and we do the rest! We will take care of assessing the books for store credit, and adding that credit to the Fablefern Educators Fund.

I’m an educator - how do I apply?

You can get added to our database by filling out the form on this page.

If I receive Fablefern Educators Fund store credit, do I need to re-apply to be considered again?

Yes. Your contact information will be archived after you receive store credit. This allows us to keep our database up-to-date. Feel free to re-apply! There is no limit to how many times you can apply for the Educators Fund.

How often do you issue store credit?

Once a month, we review the store credit account to determine how much credit we have to give out. Our goal is to offer credit to as many educators as possible, so we are limiting store credit vouchers to one per person per calendar year.

How much store credit will I get?

Will will issue store credit in $50 increments.

What if I don’t see books on your website for my student’s age range?

We are always adding new inventory! And there’s nothing we love more than finding the perfect book for someone. That’s why we ask about the ages and interest of your students in our form–if there are certain titles you’re after, we will make it our mission to track those down for you.

How long do I have to use my store credit?

Your store credit code will be valid for one year from the date of issue.

How does Fablefern’s store credit matching work?

Fablefern will match dollar for dollar all store credit added to the Educators Fund. This means more credit for more educators and double the impact!
